For all you single post-apocalyptic fans out there, Tinder wants to make sure you’re properly set up with your ride-or-die partner for the end of the world.

This special international event, known as Swipe Night, will play out like an interactive choose-your-own-adventure story through the Tinder app. Potential connections will navigate through a cataclysmic asteroid scenario rife with ‘moral dilemmas and practical choices’ that will help determine that perfect someone for each member. The kicker is that you’ll only have 7 seconds to make these decisions!

Despite the fact that the pandemic timing seems appropriate, these apocalyptic Swipe night events actually started last October. The first event took place in a reality TV survival simulation, but COVID-19 helped this upcoming event kinda write itself.

“When lockdowns began, we saw an immediate increase in our members’ engagement on Tinder, so we know we play an important role in their stay-at-home experience,” Tinder CEO Jim Lanzone said in a press release.

“While the global health crisis continues, we believe Swipe Night can bring a welcome change of pace to our members around the world. We’re committed to driving innovation on Tinder that creates more ways to bring our members together, entertain them, and help them meet and get to know new people.”

If you’re interested in joining the experience for yourself, you’ll need the Tinder app where you’ll receive a notification starting on September 12th. The event will then continue each weekend through the 19th and then again on the 26th. The decisions you make each weekend will combine to give your final match results at the end of the month.

And if you need help brushing up on your post-apocalyptic movie, TV show, book, or game knowledge, we got your back.
