While the Wasteland 3 developers are busy with another launch in their flagship franchise later this month, the company has surprised us all with another new post-apocalyptic game announcement.

Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds is a virtual reality game from inXile Entertainment that will see intense 10v10 PvP battles in a post-apocalyptic Antarctica environment.

InXile is no stranger to VR games, as 2017’s The Mage’s Tale was a huge hit for the company. “After we finished The Mage’s Tale, we were looking to take our learnings forward to a new VR experience, and at the same time a lot of us were also enamored with the emergent gameplay we were seeing come out of PvP shooters and the survival genre,” inXile entertainment Studio Head Brian Fargo told the Oculus team. “So we set about seeing if we could create something even more compelling by weaving in an interesting setting, along with beautiful visuals, and pull that off in VR.”

Other touted features of the game include over a dozen detailed firearms, a rich storyline, PvP strategic advantages, and a unique bio-mechanical threat in the game that adds an element of PvE to the PvP.

Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds will release for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive VR, and Valve Index headsets later this year. But in the meantime, if you’re interested in getting your hands on the game, you can sign up for the free open beta in September and enter for your chance to win a free copy of the game.
